John Flannery

John Flannery joined LS2group after 45 years of work in the telecommunications industry. During his career, John served in a number of management positions in Nebraska and Iowa before being promoted to district manager in Northwest Iowa for GTE. In 1983, John was appointed GTE’s governmental affairs director where he lobbied state regulatory commissions, governors, attorneys general, state legislators, and members of Congress from the states of Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. In 2000, he was named Verizon’s Vice President for Regulatory and Governmental Affairs for the same area. When John “retired” from Verizon in 2011, he had established relationships with key policymakers throughout the United States.

In 2009, John was named an Honorary Pioneer Lawmaker before a joint session of the Iowa Senate and Iowa House of Representatives.

Prior to his work in telecommunications, he served four years in the United States Air Force and five years as a trooper in the Iowa State Patrol.

John and his wife Suzie have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. He is an active supporter of the Special Olympics and Best Buddies.

He is a graduate of Loras Academy in Dubuque.
